Description:
This study is designed to compare two treatments for carotid artery stenosis in low-risk patients. Participants are assigned randomly to receive either carotid surgery (standard treatment) or carotid stenting.

Eligibility:
  • Low surgical risk patients with carotid artery stenosis.
  • Carotid artery stenosis of greater than 60% without symptoms or
  • Greater than 50% with symptoms.
  • Other eligibility criteria may apply. Please contact study coordinator.

Exclusions:
  • High surgical risk.
