Pulmonology is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases, as well as secondary prevention (tuberculosis). Physicians specializing in this area are called pulmonologists. Surgery of the respiratory tract is generally performed by specialists in cardiothoracic surgery (or thoracic surgery).
