The NEPhrotic Syndrome STUdy NEtwork (NEPTUNE)

Description:

This study will be conducted at multiple centers including PMRC. The purpose of this study is to collect information and gain knowledge about a kidney disease called nephrotic syndrome (NS).  Individuals with NS will be asked to provide basic health information, blood & urine samples, nail clippings and to undergo a kidney biopsy. The information gathered will be used for future studies in NS.


Eligibility:
  • New diagnosis of certain types of kidney diseases (FSGS, MCD, MN, OG)
  • Nephrotic syndrome
  • A plan for a kidney biopsy recommended by their local nephrologist
  • Urinary protein excretion of at least 500 mg/24 hours within 3 months of enrollment
  • Please contact study coordinator for more information about whether you qualify for this study.

Exclusions:
  • Prior organ transplant
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Certain other kidney diseases
  • There may be other conditions that could keep you from being in this study. Please contact study coordinator.
